Check any contractor against the city’s own list
Blue Ridge does something most cities this size do not, and it is the most useful protection a homeowner here has after a storm.
The city’s Building and Permitting Division publishes a Registered Contractors Listing. It is on the city website, alongside the residential services, the contractor and commercial services, the platting information and the fee schedule.
So when a truck pulls into your driveway three days after a hailstorm and somebody tells you your roof is destroyed, you have a way of checking that costs nothing and takes a minute. Look them up. If a contractor wants to put a crew on your roof in Blue Ridge and is not on the city’s list, you have learned something important before any money changes hands.
We would rather you checked. A contractor who does not want you looking at a public register is telling you why.
Weather risks for Blue Ridge homes:
Open country means very little shelter. Blue Ridge calls itself the home of the last Texas prairie, and describes itself as a great little town just off the normal beaten path, geographically part of the DFW Metroplex but not much like it. That is charming, and it has a direct mechanical consequence for your roof.
In a dense subdivision, the houses either side of yours take part of the wind load and break up the airflow before it reaches your roof edge. On open prairie, nothing does. Wind arrives at full strength and concentrates where it always concentrates: at the rakes, along the ridges, and on the first course of shingle above the gutter.
Edge detail therefore matters more here than in a sheltered subdivision. Drip edge, starter strip, the nailing pattern on that first course and the condition of the ridge are not details on a Blue Ridge roof, they are the parts most likely to fail.
Schedule a free inspection and we will start at the edges.
One contract, one crew sequencing the work, and one set of photographs behind the insurance claim.
Our Blue Ridge residential roofing services include:
We also serve commercial property, barns, metal buildings and outbuildings in and around Blue Ridge, where a metal roof over a working building is often the one taking the weather.
Our Blue Ridge commercial roofing services include:
For the full list of systems, see our commercial roofing page.
We inspect before a claim exists, photograph and scope the damage to a standard an adjuster can work from, meet your adjuster on the roof, and support a supplement with evidence when the tear off reveals decking damage nobody could see.
What we do not do is file or negotiate the claim, because Texas law does not permit a contractor to act as a public adjuster on a property it is working on. Your deductible is also yours to pay under Texas law, and a contractor offering to waive or absorb it is describing a criminal offense rather than a discount.
Out here, barns, outbuildings and metal structures take a full share of the weather and should be inspected and photographed alongside the house. Detached structures commonly sit under a separate part of a homeowner’s policy with their own limit, shown on your declarations page. Full detail on our insurance claim assistance page.
Hail that marks a roof almost always marks the gutters, the window screens, the fence, the soffit and the siding at the same time. All of it belongs on one claim against one deductible.
On the roof, not from the driveway, with marked and counted test squares on each slope and the attic checked from underneath.
Dated photographs, wide and close, soft metal evidence from gutters and screens, and a written scope covering every component the storm touched.
Protection where the roof is open, documented separately for the claim.
We attend the adjuster’s inspection and read the returned scope with you, line by line, against our own documentation.
Roof, gutters, siding, windows, fencing, barns and outbuildings, sequenced by one contractor rather than four.
If a storm has recently crossed Blue Ridge, the signs worth acting on are:
Our Blue Ridge storm damage repair covers the visible damage and the damage that will not announce itself for a season.
Signs replacement is the right call:
Tear off to the deck, every sheet inspected with damaged sheets replaced at an agreed per sheet rate, synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield in valleys and at penetrations, new drip edge and new flashing rather than reused, new pipe boots, and balanced intake and exhaust ventilation.
Given the exposure here, the edge specification is worth paying particular attention to on a Blue Ridge quote. Reused drip edge is a false economy anywhere and an expensive one on open prairie.
Get a free estimate and we will put the recommendation in writing either way.
We want you to check the city's register, ours included.
We specify the edge detail, which is the part an exposed roof loses first.
The decking rate is agreed before tear off.
Barns and outbuildings go in the scope, because out here they take the weather too.
You get the photographs either way, whether or not you hire us.
We are honest about the distance. Blue Ridge is at the eastern edge of our working area, so an inspection here is booked properly rather than squeezed between two jobs.

The city’s Building and Permitting Division monitors compliance with city codes and ordinances through permitting, construction plan review and inspections. It provides residential services for homeowners, contractor and commercial services, developers and platting, and publishes its building resources including fees, along with the Registered Contractors Listing described above.
On 2 April 2024 the Blue Ridge City Council adopted the 2021 International Code Council family of building codes together with the 2023 National Electric Code, effective the same day. The city states that all building and fire code permit applications received on or after that date are reviewed against the new codes, and asks anyone with a question about a submission to contact City Hall.
The adopted set includes the 2021 International Building Code, the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code, the 2021 International Fire Code and, relevant to almost every homeowner reading this page, the 2021 International Existing Building Code.
That last one is the code that actually governs a re roof. New construction sits under the building and residential codes. Work to a structure already standing, which is what replacing a roof is, falls under the existing building code. A contractor who cannot tell you which code applies to your job has not thought about your job.
We confirm what your specific job requires before it is scheduled, and where a permit is needed we pull it.
Blue Ridge publishes a Registered Contractors Listing on the city website through its Building and Permitting Division. Look up anyone who wants to work on your roof. It takes a minute, costs nothing, and after a hailstorm it is the single most useful check a homeowner in this city can make.
The Building and Permitting Division handles permitting, construction plan review and inspections for work in the city. We confirm what your specific job requires before it is scheduled, and where a permit is needed we pull it. For questions about a submission the city asks that you contact City Hall directly.
The city adopted the 2021 International Code Council codes and the 2023 National Electric Code on 2 April 2024, effective that day, and reviews applications received on or after it against them. A roof replacement is an alteration to an existing structure, so the 2021 International Existing Building Code is the relevant one.
Because that is where wind load concentrates, and out here there is very little shelter to break the wind up before it reaches your roof. Rakes, ridges and the first course above the gutter go first. It is why drip edge, starter strip and the nailing pattern on that first course matter more on a Blue Ridge roof, and why reused drip edge is a false economy here.
Usually you cannot from the ground. Look at the soft metal first: dents on gutters, downspouts, vents or window screens mean the roof took the same impacts. Confirming it takes someone on the roof marking test squares.
Yes. Out here they take a full share of the weather, and detached structures commonly sit under a separate part of a homeowner’s policy with their own limit, shown on your declarations page. It will not be covered at all if nobody documented it.
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the material, how many layers come off and how much decking is damaged. We will not quote a figure without seeing it. What we will give you is a written specification with a per sheet decking rate agreed in advance.
Most homes here are a single day of tear off and install, with a second day on larger or more complex roofs, plus the permit and inspection. Weather moves it, and after a widespread hail event material lead times move it more than labor does.
Our office is on Preston Road in Frisco, which puts Blue Ridge at the eastern edge of our working area. We would rather be plain about that than claim otherwise. We come out on scheduled work and after storms, so an inspection here is booked properly rather than squeezed between two jobs.
That depends on your carrier and your claims history, and no roofer can answer it for your policy. Your agent can. What we can tell you is whether you have damage worth filing on.
If a storm has crossed eastern Collin County, or there is a stain on a ceiling and no obvious source, the inspection is the whole first step and it costs nothing.
